Hello all. Today there is a little announcement. I would like to introduce the new Glossary. You can find it in the navigation bar.

About the background

I noticed that in the topic Embedded Systems or in technical areas in general many technical words and acronyms are used. Of course I try hard to write my blog entries as understandable as possible and not to assume too much knowledge from you. After all, we are on a journey of learning and only acquire this knowledge little by little.

Now comes the big “but.” In various entries, some terms or common abbreviations are repeated. It would simply be too bloated to explain all the words each time. It would diminish your reading pleasure and would just be boring.

Then leave it out!

Explaining once and then accepting it as known would work, of course. But if I am honest to myself, I don’t take everything in at the first reading and forget one or the other unfortunately again. Not everyone can show an eidetic (Sheldon sends his regards) memory.

The solution: a glossary

A glossary is like a dictionary. Originally it comes from the Latin glossarium. That’s a book in which foreign words are explained. And that’s pretty appropriate for our world of embedded systems. You will find a thousand new or foreign words there.

The structure of the glossary is quite simple. In this alphabetically ordered list, technical terms are listed one below the other, briefly explained and translated. This should give you the opportunity to quickly look up an unknown word or to recall the meaning.

I try to include all important terms from my blog entries and to keep the glossary up to date. If you find one that you think is missing, let me know. It is a living document and you are welcome to contribute to its further development.

What do you think about a glossary? Do you find it helpful? I’m happy if it helps you and is a useful addition to my blog entries.

I wish you maximum success!
